Manurewa

Manurewa’s people, will live together in safe, harmonious communities, with vibrant and attractive local town centres, all linked by efficient transport networks through which our people can connect with each other, our heritage and the natural environment.
Management of community, heritage and natural resources will focus on sustainability and economic development.
The Manurewa community identified the following areas as needing particular attention:
Educated and Knowledgeable People
- Match education to employment opportunities
- Reduce truancy
- Support children with special needs
- Provide for adult education.
Vibrant and Strong Communities
- Improve the town centre
- Ensure people of all ages are involved fully in the community
- Host festivals to promote the community and acknowledge success.
Safe Communities
- Focus on Manurewa and Clendon town centres
- Improve levels of Police response and visibility
- Reduce graffiti.
Moving Manukau
- Improve public transport so it is more accessible and available
- Provide cycle ways.
Healthy People
- Provide more health education
- Limit access to alcohol and gambling.
Thriving Economy
- Encourage businesses to start up in Manurewa to increase employment opportunities.
Sustainable Environment and Heritage
- Protect and maintain coastal waters and beaches
- Provide more services for rubbish collection and cleaning of the streets and public areas
- Replant the estuary with native plants to encourage native water life and birds.
