Mangere

The Mangere community identified the following areas as needing particular attention:
Educated and Knowledgeable People
- Provide opportunities for life-long education and literacy
- Provide Maori and Pacific Islands language immersion classes.
Vibrant and Strong Communities
- Improve Mangere Town Centre and reflect its Pacific identity
- Stage more Mangere based events.
Safe Communities
- Increase Police response and visibility
- Ensure a holistic approach to crime prevention.
Moving Manukau
- Improve public transport to ensure it is more accessible and available
- Improve enforcement of traffic safety rules.
Healthy People
- Promote healthy lifestyles
- Improve sports fields and physical activity areas
- Provide affordable primary care
- Ensure there are high quality, healthy homes.
Thriving Economy
- Improve the quality and design of shopping centres
- Develop heritage tourism.
Sustainable Environment and Heritage
- Protect and maintain green spaces, including rural areas.
