Community Priorities

The residents of our eight wards were asked to describe their common experiences, needs, priorities and issues that are specific to their communities.

In focus groups, each community talked about what they like about where they live. They talked about the wellbeing of their community, identifying and prioritising changes they thought were required to become safe communities, and have a sustainable environment and heritage. They talked about what needed to be achieved to be healthy people, become vibrant and strong communities, be educated and knowledgeable people, be part of a moving Manukau, and have a thriving economy.

Finally, residents developed their own community statements that capture these aspirations. They will help guide activities needed to promote their community’s wellbeing.
