Eliminating Family Violence Project
Tomorrow’s Manukau partners and key agencies are working together to share information, resources and programmes in a concerted effort to reduce and eliminate family violence in Manukau. This issue is a real concern to the community and this project is working towards;
- easier access to support services for those dealing with family violence and abuse in their lives
- new services targeting identified gaps
- better co-ordination and collaboration between agencies;
- better information on the impact of interventions across Manukau
With the commitment and support of agencies, community and individuals, we aim to reduce family violence in Manukau City and inform organisations about what we have learnt from each other and developed in partnership.

Progress to date
- Working group members have developed a report outlining the Economic Cost of Family Violence in Counties Manukau (PDF 70k)
- Inter Agency Critical Pathway (PDF 61k)
- Participant Responses from Working Together Hui 30 March 2010 (PDF 72k)
The working group have looked in depth around key agencies referral processes. This document allows agencies to assess, address or escalate any referral barriers or issues.
- Development and delivery of the Phase 2 Work Programme - this includes a new programme for Men, Gaps Analysis and Mentoring for Families research.
- Action Plan (PDF 96k) drafted and approved by Tomorrow’s Manukau Strategic Steering Group.
- The first phase of the project has been focused on developing the group, project priorities, action planning and building relationships between agency members.

Gaps Analysis
Identifying and addressing the current 'gaps' in service provision is a key initiative for the project. The following areas have been identified;
- Marae based social services
- Pasefika based social services (further assessment underway)
- Reunification programmes aimed at couples
- Men’s programmes
- Family Violence Inter Agency Response System Co-ordinator
We are looking at ways we can address these gaps or support others. This information also informs future planning around family violence in Manukau City.
